Quote:Birchcroft Fine Bone China, which makes collectors' thimbles in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, has the distinction of having two of Britain's listed bottle ovens on site. Few of these ovens remain, but of the Six Towns comprising Stoke-on-Trent Longton has the largest number and the finest. Thousands of pounds have been spent on renovation, and visitors can now step inside the cavernous relics, many of which have been adapted as museums and showrooms.

I recently bought this Caverswall 12 days of Christmas set which only had 11 thimbles. If there is a collector out there who has the missing thimble for sale I would be very grateful. It is the 6th day of Christmas thimble that is missing (On the sixth day of Christmas my true love gave to me ...... Six Geese A-laying) if I remember correctly!

This is what the set looks like.

Profile on Jenny Scharff Bockel

The response from around the country was overwhelming, and the Thimble Collectors Club of South Africa was born.

Jenny started collecting thimbles by pure chance. During the early 1980’s ...

Hi Mary

This is the Celtic Weave Thimble that my sister bought for me in Ireland. The Celtic Weave China studio is situated 1 mile west of Belleek. The thimble is made out of Parian Bone China and has a mother of pearl lustre. They do not make a wide range of thimbles - my thimble is beautifully made.

To learn more about Celtic Weave products, you can visit celticweavechina.ie

I think this is interesting, as I have been wondering what various equipment is used to make thimbles.

Looks like they are selling a video here on how to use this mini lathe, which can make

a small goblet with loose rings

a thimble

Hahahaha this is so cool!

I was going to get some embriodery yarn in a box I never open really, and on the bottom of the box was a thimble I saved for sewing there, and guess what!! It's a Simon's thimble! I would never have known that if it wasn't for this group!

I recognise the makers mark inside, shaped like a thimble with the S and marked sterling silver around.

The rim has beautiful flowers around, they look like pansies to me.

I'm still shaking my head, laughing haha.. how fun! ...
