Hi Everyone! I'm Charlee, and I'm just now getting interested in thimble collecting! I have a few thimbles that were my mom's and one or two that belonged to an elderly woman that I used to take care of, but I've not been able to accumulate more than that yet!
My main interest is in the pewter/silver/gold thimbles, those without the figures on top of them. "Usable" I guess is the word I'd use to describe them, and I love the old "beat up" thimbles that have been well used and loved. The ones that you look at and wonder what it was used to make, and what the woman was like that used it.

I don't know much yet about thimbles, or what they're worth, which would be why I haven't purchased many yet...I'm hoping to learn lots from you all here! Smile

Hello Charlee & welcome to Thimble Chatter!

I have been out of the loop for a while due to an operation but am now back in action! I also love the silver & gold thimbles. I am not fond of thimbles with figures on them but I do have a few of the more collectible ones.

I always wonder how they made the older more ornate thimbles without the tools that we have today. You look at them and wonder who they belonged to eg 100 years ago - what a story they would tell if they could!

If you need help, please send us a photo and between us we will try to find you the answer. Also feel free to share your photos with us.

My daughter Lindsay & I started Thimble Chatter and we are based in Randburg, South Africa. We are both members of the Thimble Collectors Club of South Africa and I am also a member of TCI in the USA.

Do feel free to post and and please keep in touch with us.

Have a great day!

Paddy
